Barbara Yeager is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® with 30+ years of experience empowering charitable gift planners through formal training and peer learning. She collaborated with leaders in the gift planning community to develop the National Standards for Gift Planning Success. To promote the standards, Babs created the NSGPS assessment system and a resource center designed to support charitable organizations as they create and sustain best practice gift planning initiatives. As Director of Education and Programs for the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP), she managed the education program for the national CGP Conference, which meets the professional development goals of 1,000 attendees.

Babs was a member of the advisory committee for the Giving USA special report “Leaving a Legacy: A New Look at Planned Giving Donors,” and she conducted many research projects for the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, including a series of gift planner profile surveys to track the characteristics and working conditions of gift planners across the country. She was the developmental editor for the book Personalized Philanthropy: Crash the Fundraising Matrix by Steven L. Meyers, and the managing editor for The Journal of Gift Planning. She has written for Planned Giving Today and conducted programs and strategic planning retreats for gift planning councils in cities including Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver and New York. With a national group of estate planners, wealth managers and philanthropic advisors, she served on the Planned Giving Advisory Council of the Carter Center.

Babs received BA in English and Masters of Library Science degrees from Kent State University and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. For work-life balance, she is a vegetable gardener and orchid grower, a knitter (two times best of show at the Indiana State Fair) and a reader whose favorite authors include Wendell Berry, Hilary Mantel and A.S. Byatt. Babs and her family live in Indianapolis.
